Nice views! I was thinking a drone would be an interesting way to expand my photographic hobby, but Virginia’s statutory restrictions effectively limit my flight envelope to 400 feet of altitude within the perimeter of my back yard. Happy flying.
Wow! that perimeter restriction is really tight. That’s too bad. Maine has some also, but limited https://www.maine.gov/dacf/parks/docs/Drone-UAS-%20Policy.pdf . I think the Virginia rules are a bit tougher and they seem to lean heavily on hobbyist use. Both states seem to have found yet another way to collect taxes.
I’m flying a low cost drone, but even it has a gimbal mounted camera, vertical and horizontal control, lock on and point of view tracking, and 4k 60 fps. Stills are 48 MP and zoom is 1x, 2x or 3x. So it’s fun and has potential for photographers.
Had Dewey up today and covered approx 3 mile radius at 300 – 400′. 400′ above ground level is national max even though the drones can fly much, much higher.
I was bring it back in when an excessively high winds aloft came on.So in excess of 27 MPH winds. It was very exciting getting it back home, but we made it.
